These are some of the ways
Playing Music improves your life.
- Music training enhances fine motor skills, which are the ability to execute precise and delicate muscle movements. These skills are essential for tasks such as writing, operating a computer, and performing other physical activities.
- Forgeard (2008), Hyde (2009), and Schlaug et al. (2005) conducted longitudinal studies that examined the effects of musical training on structural brain development. Schlaug et al.’s study, published in The Neurosciences and Music III: Disorders and Plasticity (2009), found that musical training can lead to structural changes in the brain.
- Musically trained children exhibit significantly enhanced everyday listening skills compared to those without musical training. Notably, these listening skills are closely correlated with the ability to discern speech in a noisy environment, maintain attention, and retain sounds in memory.
- Strait, D.L., and N. Kraus. Biological Impact of Auditory Expertise Across the Lifespan: Musicians as a Model of Auditory Learning. Hearing Research, 2013.
- Students who participate in music education during middle school demonstrate a notable advantage in their performance on algebra assignments during the ninth grade compared to their peers who do not engage in music.
- Helmrich. B. H. (2010). Window of opportunity? Adolescence, music, and algebra. Journal of Adolescent Research. 25 (4).
- Research indicates that even a few years of musical training during early childhood enhance the brain’s auditory processing capabilities. Moreover, the advantages of early exposure to music education persist throughout adulthood, well beyond the cessation of training.
